Description

A normal shear wave probe is a single-element transducer in direct contact with the component that generates a shear wave at perpendicular incidence. The polarisation direction of the shear wave follows the direction of the interface.

Features

  • Normal incidence, shear wave inside the workpiece
  • Sensitivity usually lower than an LW straight probe
  • Low probe height — suitable for limited space
  • Requires high-viscosity couplant (order code 6JS0124)
  • Side-mounted Microdot connector by default, top mounting to order

Specifications

  • Models: SN5P6, SN5P13
  • Frequencies: 0.5 / 1 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 4 / 5 MHz
  • Nominal element sizes: 6 / 10 / 13 / 19 / 25 mm

Applications

  • Shear wave velocity measurement
  • Young’s and shear modulus calculation
  • Grain structure analysis
