Description
A normal shear wave probe is a single-element transducer in direct contact with the component that generates a shear wave at perpendicular incidence. The polarisation direction of the shear wave follows the direction of the interface.
Features
- Normal incidence, shear wave inside the workpiece
- Sensitivity usually lower than an LW straight probe
- Low probe height — suitable for limited space
- Requires high-viscosity couplant (order code 6JS0124)
- Side-mounted Microdot connector by default, top mounting to order
Specifications
- Models: SN5P6, SN5P13
- Frequencies: 0.5 / 1 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 4 / 5 MHz
- Nominal element sizes: 6 / 10 / 13 / 19 / 25 mm
Applications
- Shear wave velocity measurement
- Young’s and shear modulus calculation
- Grain structure analysis
